Sometimes when adults get mad at each other, they say things they don't really mean. It could be that your parents are just having a low spot in their relationship, but still really love each other. However, it is not right for them to stay together just for the sake of you children. As hard as that may be to understand, it is true. Maybe if you tell them how you feel, they will let you know a little more about what is going on between them (like I said, it could be just a really good fight). You might try to tell them how much this is bothering you though and that you wish they would try to work together on their marriage instead of arguing and using harmful threats. Your stepfathers threats are more harmful than helpful and further fuel the feelings of discontentment for your mom instead of giving her hope. Just remember, above all else, that you are not the reason for their problems and they both love you and your brother. Sadly, you cannot change this problem.
