I have been divorced 11 years. My ex keeps giving out my address & phone # to creditors. How do I stop this?
I get constant calls from his creditors and I think half don’t believe what I tell them. It’s irritating to me & upsetting to my autistic son. This has gone on too long. I cannot afford a lawyer. Some of his debts (after the divorce) have even shown up on my credit reports! What can I do?

He is comitting fraud. Collect evidence and threaten to report him to the police if he doesn’t call everyone back who he’s referred to you and help you clean up your credit report.

Talk to the police and ask them to arrest him for fraud. Don’t drop the charges either.

Go to the police and have him arrested for fraud.

CHANGE Your Phone Number to an UNLISTED one and do NOT share it with your Ex.
Make sure the credit reporting agencies have your Divorce decree with Filing and Settlement date along with his SSN info with directions to REMOVE any credit activity reported against HIS SSN after the dates.

Send them the portion of the divorce decree clearly showing that HE was made resposible for that particular debt. You can also go down to the courthouse and ask for an order enforcement or contempt of court hearing since he didn’t obey the court’s orders to pay those debts. After all this time, you might want to just suck it up and pay the joint debt, just to finally clear up your credit. As far as the debts he has incurred after the divorce, contact the credit reporting agencies and dispute them. Send in your divorce decree as proof of the date of divorce and they will have to remove those marks from your credit. Also, ask to see the original paperwork for those debts to make sure he isn’t actually using your ss# or signature on new loans. If he is, report it to the police. It’s called fraud. Good luck

I believe he may have committed a federal offense. Consult the prosecuting attorney or US attorney.

DO NOT CALL 911. This is not a life threatning emergency. it is okay to call the police and file a report or talk to a lawyer that gives free consultations. There are usually hundreds of them in the Yellow Pages.

Call the police. What he is doing is fraud. Let them advise you or let them take it from there.

As the father of a severely Autistic son I think your ex is the biggest jerk in the world. What state does he live in as state laws may vary on what can be done to him? I am afraid that in all likelyhood the police will consider this a civil matter and not want to get involved . You can contest items on your credit report.
