Ok my Mom is a right wing-biblical thumper who in the past has had many boyfriends, and was married to my father and gave birth to 2 children.
She just broke off a 5 year relationship because I think the Jehovah’s are telling her sex outside of marriage is wrong.
I called her a hypocrite because she can’t just so called (sin) for 35 years and then on the 48th year decide to refrain from sex. I said she is like a prison inmate for life who decides to then become a christian.

If she is Christian then she is repenting of her sinful life and deciding to follow Christ. This is not hypocritical it is a change in way of thinking. Being hypocritical is being one thing and pretending to be another if one changes their mind and changes their actions then that is not being hypocritical. Jesus calls us to repent from our sins of which we are forgiven and follow Him in path of righteousness. If we change by being born of the Spirit it is a change and newness of life. Since it seem your mom is choosing to finally follow the Lord then it is not hypocrisy it is a change in her way of life. And yes we can change our lives in the 48th year, I was an Atheist till age 37 when I came to know the Lord and changed my life. As for the being like a prison inmate yes she was in prison of sin and now she has been set free from it.
Of course she isn’t a hypocrite.
She acted in ignorance of God’s standards before, and made mistakes. Now, through studying the Bible, she knows better & wants to change her life for the better.

This is how it works: we sin, are forgiven and then want to do the right thing now. We change inside and want to do good things, no more bad things. The old has past away and we are made new.

According to Jesus, we can accept our salvation at any time. God already forgave her, maybe she just finally decided to accept it. Jesus has the power to make one clean again and wipe sins away… as far as the east is from the west. So maybe she has learned this and accepts it. It’s never to late to change your behavior.. that’s not fair. People change, and that is a FACT no matter if you believe in God or not.
Deciding to change who you are/how you behave is not being a hypocrite.
If she chose not to change a thing but then punished you for doing as she did, or spoke poorly about another who did, THAT would make her a hypocrite.
She has the right to change her mind on a lifestyle she now believes is not in her best interest…anyone does…you shouldn’t be pissed about it, THAT makes no sense and you should ask yourself why her turning a new leaf over bothers you so much…
She’s old enough to do what she wants with her life. It sucks for you but hey as long as she provides for you and doesn’t abuse you it should be fine.

Your Mom has finally got a clue. She’s spot on, dude. She has done what very few actually do, she has repented, and had a change of heart. Praise The Almighty!!! He finally reached her! Sex outside of marriage IS wrong. Period. Just look at the train wreck society is today. No family structure, no order, no peace. Quite simple, actually. Once , even a killer, figures out where’s he headed, has the chance to repent, turn from their evil ways, and receive Yeshua(Lord Jesus Christ) into their hearts, and they are a new creature. Ya just might take some time, read, and study The Word, ya might just get to spend eternity with your Mom.

The whole "save yourself for marriage" line only has any logical consistency for virgins, or people who waited until marriage, became widowed, and are waiting again. Anything else is hypocritical crap.
