Snoring is it a Problem in your Marriage?

My Husband snores so loud the neighbors have complained. I try to get him to try some of the advertised products on the markets. But he claims we’d be wasting money. Which is worse saving money or missing sleep ?

Well that happened to me. I snore so loud my husband could not sleep in the same room together. It is called sleep apnea and this is a serious medical condition. Most people need an oxygen machine when sleeping. The snoring stops the heart. Now that I have my machine I go into a rem sleep that I never knew existed before. Tell your husband to go for a sleep study test. Ask the doctor or go see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor.

  2. Bad Moon Rising says:

I have sleep apnea and a CPAP machine. It sounds like your husband has it as well. He is right the gadgets are not only a waste of money but are dangerous. This is a serious medical condition and not to be taken lightly. He will be lucky if he does not get into a head on collision before being diagnosed. Even if this does not happen, diabetes, heart disease and dying in your sleep are all varying probabilities!

A CPAP is really the only answer for some forms of Apnea. When I was diagnosed 22 years ago, I was lucky if I was getting the equivalent of one hour of sleep per night and yet I was completely asymptomatic except for the snoring. It took them less than 30 minutes to slip a mask on me during the night test since they were so concerned by my lack of any breathing rhythm!

To the woman who’s husband won’t use his machine: The Nose Puffs were designed by the Marquis De Sade….I wore them once for about 3 hours and thought I was going to die. Don’t blame your husband, but it is time for him to trim the beard. I have a moustache and that is NP, maybe if he cropped the beard it would be better. The moustache area just has to be trimmed out a bit. The nose piece is nowhere near the beard are per se! It also helps if you place a small thin round bandaid on the nose bridge so that it is more comfortable (good luck).

The snoring is not a joke! It may be very serious, well beyond what you might dream of. I know it was for me!

  3. Garnet Glitter says:

My husband has sleep apnea and when he refuses to use his machine (he has to use the one with the nose plug because his beard makes the mask impossible to wear) I swear by all that’s Holy it sounds like the Mother ship has landed next to me..and is in desperate need of a new muffler….

    Do spaceships have mufflers? lol….

I’ve gotten to the point where I can tune it out…rather have him rattling the walls and shaking the plaster off the ceiling than not sleeping next to me.

  4. Stressed to the Max says:

A sleep apnea mask (CPAP) has been an incredible gift to our home. Now when my husband sleeps so can anyone within a mile of him.

  5. Ms. GTO says:

Missing sleep- definitely. Lack of sleep can negatively impact every other facet of your life and can even make you sick. He’s just being a cheapskate.

  6. Maris says:

Dang, the neighbors?! I just have to shut the door and sleep on the couch.

  7. no1advice says:

Have him checked by a doctor for Sleep Apnea. This is when your air is restricted and loud snoring happens. You can die from this because the muscles in your throat collapse and cut off the air this can cause heart disease too. Cuts the oxygen to your vital organs and you automatically wake up. So people with this do not sleep well. My husband has it. He uses a breathing machine called a CPAP machine. Talk to the doctor to see if he needs to have a sleep test done. The machine can be covered with insurance, if no insurance it is not that expensive maybe $200. but it will help him 100% and he will feel better and so will you. You’ll get some sleep too :)

  8. BabeHart says:

.He needs to talk to his doctor about it. There is no reason for it to disturb your rest without him at least trying to correct the condition. Either wake him every time he starts snoring (and disturbs you) so he’ll get as little rest as you do, or sleep in another room with ear plugs.

My lover also snores (not wall shaking, but loud enough that if I am awake when he does it, I can’t fall asleep until he stops). If he and I were to be spending nights together regularly, I’d definitely request he get checked out and see what could be done…might be sleep apnea.

  9. Bitter says:

Why don’t you see a doctor, snoring is not good for your husband.. and if it keeps you awake it’s not good for you.

My husband does snore ( not too loudly I guess) .. but I’m so use to it, that when we are apart it takes a while for me to get a good rest without him.

    Hope you find help!

  10. Coffee Drinker says:

You need to have the doctor test him for sleep apnea. It can kill him if it goes untreated. Google it. It can also be a symptom of obesity, deviated septum, problems with adenoids. Get a medical evaluation.
Also have you tape recorded him and played it back to him?
I know several couples who have to sleep with ear plugs because their partner snores.
